HomeMy Public PortalAbout84-054 (06-05-84)RESOLUTION NO. 84-54 WHEREAS, the Continental Congress of the United States adopted a National Flag on June 14, 1977; and WHEREAS, the United States Congress officially designated June 14 as National Flag Day in 1949; and WHEREAS, the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House has official- ly sponsored Flag Week since 1952; and WHEREAS, the National Flag Day Foundation, in Baltimore, Maryland was created in 1982 to plan National Flag Day ceremonies and to encourage patriotism by promoting the PAUSE FOR THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE WHEREAS, this year on June 14, 1984 at 7:00 p.m. (EDT), Americans everywhere in the nation, led by President Reagan and Governors of the 50 states, are asked to pause to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, urge its members, their families, and their friends to join in this effort. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 5th day of June 1984. 66~ ~~'Lli7 E. L.
