A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD SUPPORTING A NORTHBOUND
ONLY OFF RAMP AT SOUTHERN AVENUE FOR THE
LONG BEACH FREEWAY
WHEREAS, there are safety problems and extreme traffic
congestion being experienced by the City of South Gate at
Garfield Avenue and Firestone Boulevard; and

WHEREAS, these problems and congestion can be attri-
buted to two major factors; and
WHEREAS, those two factors are, traffic flow on Fire-
stone Boulevard (which exceeds 42,000 vehicles daily), and the
limited weaving distance between the off ramp at Firestone
Boulevard and the intersection at Garfield Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood also has considerable
traffic on its streets which is generated from South Gate's
industries; and
WHEREAS, if these problems and congestions could be
alleviated both cities would benefit; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood wishes to operate in a
cooperative fashion with its neighboring cities:
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Lynwood does hereby FIND, DETERMINE and RESOLVE as follows:
Section 1. The City supports the design and con-
struction of a northbound only off ramp at Southern Avenue
for the Long Beach Freeway.
