HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-21-2014THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 21, 2014 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, August 21, 2014, in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. President Robinson called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Present were: Vicki Robinson, Tony Foster and Dick Foore. Also in attendance were Kim Vessels, Assistant City Attorney; Karen Chasteen, City Clerk; Fire Chief Jerry Purcell; Deputy Fire Chief Tim Brown; Police Lt. Donnie Benedict; and, Media. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Mr. Foore moved to approve August 15, 2014 claims for payment in the amount of Four Hundred Seventy Three Thousand One Hundred Sixty Nine Dollars and thirty five cents ($473,169.35), supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Mr. Foster moved to approve August 22, 2014 claims for payment in the amount of Three Hundred Forty Thousand One Hundred Forty One Dollars and sixty three cents ($340,141.63), supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. REQUESTS STREET CLOSURES • E Street Pub — 3rd Annual Customer Appreciation Day Elm Place between North 8th Street and the alley perpendicular to Elm Place September 6, 2014 — 12:30 -11:00 PM Mr. Foore moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • Reeveston Neighborhood Association — Annual Picnic Reeveston Road — South 19tH — 21St Street September 14, 2014 — 5 -7:00 PM Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. BID OPENINGS - None BID AWARDS - None CONTRACTS • CONTRACT NO. 97 -2014 — MILESTONE CONTRACTORS, INC. Phase 12014 Milling /Paving Project Not to Exceed $327,041.92 Mr. Foore moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foster. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 98 -2014 - ANTHEM BLUE CROSS /BLUE SHIELD (Fire Department) Negotiation of a potential health care provider agreement whereby Provider will deliver health care service to Anthem members for the Fire Department Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 99 -2014 — RICHMOND COMMUNITY SCHOOLS /RICHMOND AREA CAREER CENTER (Fire Department) Establish a Partnered Youth Program for the 2014 -2015 school year for the purpose of providing eligible students with fire and Rescue I and II class instruction and EMS program class instruction with the Richmond Fire Department Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Mr. Foster moved to authorize Ms. Robinson to execute this contract, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 100 -2014 —MAZE DESIGN, INC. Professional engineering services in connection with the test loading calculations and testing diagram of the fire /Police Training House Not to exceed $9,500.00 Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. Board of Works Minutes August 21, 2014 Page 3 of 3 CHANGE ORDERS • CONTRACT NO. 30 -2014 — CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 AMEC — Remediation of additional contamination and asbestos discovered while cleaning up the former Dana Foundry — 2153/2175 Williamsburg Pike /Rom Raper Way. Not to exceed $63,313 — paid directly to contractor by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management Mr. Foster moved to approve, supported by Mr. Foore. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. ADDENDUMS - None RESOLUTIONS - None PETITIONS - None MISCELLANEOUS Ms. Robinson paid tribute to Dian Lawson who passed away August 21, 2014. Dian was a long time member of the Board of Public Works and Safety. She will be missed. ADJOURNMENT After a motion was duly made, the meeting was adjourned.
