A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE APPRO-
PRIATION OF TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($12,000)
FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE PUF.POSE OF
PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO LYNWOOD STUDENTS
IN COMPETING IN TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS IN
COLOGNE, WEST GERP~.APIY
WHEREAS, several Lyr_wood students have beer, invited to
participate in track and field team competition in Cologne,
West Germany; and
WHEREAS, since receiving an invitation such as this is a
real honor and a privilege; a.rd
WHERFA.S, the City Council wishes to convey to the students
and citizens of Lynwood its pride in these students and their whole-
hearted support of these wholesome activities; ar_d
WHEREAS, these students have demonstrated a need for funds
in order to participate in these activities; and
WHEREAS, funds for such an expenditure do not currently
exist in the 1984-85 Budget:
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does
hereby find, determine, order and RESOLVE as follows:
Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to make the
following appropriations:
General Fund Unappropriated
Fund balance - - - $12,000
1-4102-2202 - - - - - $12,000
Professional and
Contractual Services
(Community Promotion)
Section 2. The City Council hereby finds and determines
that the support or -the achieve*aent of Lynwood youth, the represen-
tation of the City by five e~;amples of Lynwood youth and the pro-
motion of civic pride and advancement by supporting activities de-
scribed in this Resolution serves a valid public purpose of the City
of Lynwood, and the City Council expresses its intention to continue
to support such activities in the future.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediate-
ly upon adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 4th day of June , 1985.
