RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD MAKING
APPLICATION TO THE LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION OF LOS
ANGELES COUNTY FOR REORGANIZATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY, DESIG-
NATED AS "ANNEXATION N0. 3(A)" TO THE CITY OF LYNWOOD (DETACFT-
MENT FROM CONSOLIDATED FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AND FIRESTONE
DISPOSAL DISTRICT)
WHEREAS, the City Council of. the City of Lynwood desires to initiate pro-
ceedings for reorganization pursuant to the District Reorganization Act of 1965 (Part
1, commencing with Section 56000, of Division 1 of Title 6 of the Government Code,
NOW THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Application is hereby made to the Local Agency Formation Commis-
sion for the reorganization of. certain territory, identified. as "Annexation No. 3(A)."
The exterior boundaries of such territory are set forth in Exhibit "A," attached here-
to and made a part hereof by this reference.
Section 2. The reasons for this proposal are that the City of Lynwood 1)
wishes to straighten out and align its boundaries with respect to surrounding juris-
dictions through annexation of the subject territory; and 2) wishes to eliminate the
existing blighted conditions in the area by redeveloping the blighted, underdeveloped
and vacant properties to allow for (a) possible relocation of households, retail out-
lets, and industries displaced by the Century Freeway which wish to remain in the
local community and (b) providing suitable sites for future public facilities and/or
expansion of the area's industrial base.
Section. 3. The nature of the proposed changes in organization and the
affected agencies are: annexation to the City of Lynwood and detachment of the same
territory from Consolidated Fire Protection District and from Firestone Garbage Dis-
posal District.
Section 4. The proposed reorganization is subject to no specific terms
or conditions, except that the affected territory shal]. also be withdrawn from Con-
solidated Sewer Maintenance District and from Willowbrook Lighting District.
Sectior. 5. The City Clerk of the City of Lynwood is authorized and direct-
ed to file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Local Agency Formation Commis-
sion of Los Angeles County, together with the necessary fee.
