A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD TO APPROVE A COOPERATION AGREEMENT
WITH THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY
FOR THE PROVISION OF CONTINUED SERVICES THROUGH
THE SECTION 8 HOUSING ASSISTANCE PAYMENT PROGRAM
FOR LOW INCOME RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD

WHEREAS, since May of 1975, the City has participated
in a CooperaCioii Agreement with Los Angeles County through the
Los Angeles Urban County Community Development Block Grant Pro-
gram where the County Housing Authority operates the Section 8
Existing Housing Assistance Payment Program on behalf of low in-
come Lynwood residents;
WHEREAS, on June 30, 1985, the City of Lynwood will
become a separate entitlement city and will no longer participate
in the Urban County Block Grant Program and Section 8 Housing Assistance
Program;
WHEREAS, under the provision of Section 8 of Title II
of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended
and Housing Authorities Law of the State of California, the Hous-
ing Authority is prohibited from operating within any City located
in the County of Los Angeles unless the consent of the governing
body of the City shall have been obtained;
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
does hereby find, determine, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. Approve and adopt the attached Cooperation
Agreement with the Los Angeles County Housing Authority for the
continued provision of the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payment
Program for low income residents of Lynwood;
Section 2. Authorize the Mayor to execute the attach-
ed Cooperation Agreement with the Los Angeles County Housing
Authority.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 4th day of JUNE
1985.
