HomeMy Public PortalAbout85-110 (08-20-85)V 0 I D -, I RESOLUTION N0. 85-110 See RES N0. 85-119 44HEREAS, the Los Angeles City Council has recently enacted an ordinance banning discrimination against AIDS victims on the job; and WHEREAS, AZDS, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome, destroys the body's immune system, leaving its victims vulnerable to otherwise rare infections. It is believed to be transmitted through body fluids, but the means of transmission is not well understood; and WHEREAS, the City Council disagrees with the recent action of the Los Angeles City Council and deems it appropriate to request that a quarantine of AIDS victims be considered; NOIV, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Lynwood as follows: Section 1. In the interest of public health and safety, the State Department of Health and the County Health Department are hereby requested to consider in accord with California Law, a quarantine of all people infected with the deadly virus AIDS until the epidemic can be controlled and its causes and cures understood.
