HomeMy Public PortalAbout85-119 (09-03-85)RESOLUTION N0. 85-119 WHEREAS, AIDS, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome, destroys the body's immune system, leaving its victims vulnerable to otherwise rare infections. It is be- lieved to be transmitted through body fluids, but the means of transmission is not well understood; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Lynwood as follows: Section 1. In the interest of public health and safety the President of the United States and the Governor of the State of California are hereby requested to declare a state of emergency relative to the AIDS crisis, and to make available emergency funding to provide for care in a hospital setting for AIDS victims, and to provide funding for intensive research of this deadly disease until the epidemic can be controlled and its causes and cures understood.
