A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE llESIGNATION
OF ST. FRANCIS MEDICAL CENTER AS A LEVEL
II TRAUMA CENTER
WHEREAS, St. Francis P4edical Center has served the
~ community of Lynwood with emergency care services since the
hospital opened in 1945; and
WHEREAS, 24-hour-a-day medical care is provided by
St. Francis Medical Center emergency medicine physicians and
other health-care professionals; and
WHEREAS, approximately 3500 patients are treated in
the St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Department each
month: and
WHEREAS, St. Francis Medical Center's Emergency
Department serves as a paramedic base station for both County
and City paramedics; and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid emergency medical services
have on many occasions been instrumental in saving the lives of
citizens of the community; and
WHEREAS, St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Department
staff provides education to pre-hospital care providers and raises
the community awareness of emergency care through community service
organizations; and
WHEREAS, the St. Francis Medical Center Emergency
Department has been designated as an Emergency Department Approved
for Pediatrics (EDAP) by the Los Angeles County of Health Services;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Lynwood
highly commends St. Francis Medical Center's Emergency Department
for their outstanding health care services to the community;
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Lynwood
recommends that St. Francis Medical Center be designated as a
Level II Trauma Center for the provision of trauma care to the
residents of Lynwood and surrounding areas.
