HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 85-23911 1 RESOLUTION NO. 85 -2391 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ADOPTING A RULE OF PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council finds 'and determines that it is . common practice in this and other cities to adopt routine motions by the so-called "no objection" method, i.e., where the Mayor, after stat- ing the motion made and seconded, asks whether there are any objections and, if none are so voiced, declares the motion unanimously carried. SECTION 2. The City Council further finds and declares that such procedure is advantageous and expedites meetings, thereby avoid- ing lengthy roll calls or voice votes. SECTION 3..' The City Council further finds and determines that each Councilmember who has subscribed his /her name hereto consents to the rule herein set forth. SECTION 4. The City Council, therefore, officially declares that every Councilmember consents to said "no objection" method of adopting motions, and further agrees that failure to raise an objection at the proffered time shall be construed to be, and shall be entered upon the Minutes as a "yes" or affirmative vote on the motion.
