HomeMy Public PortalAbout20230316 - Sustainable Green Committee - Meeting MinutesTOWN OF HOPKINTON Transportation Workgroup of the Hopkinton Sustainable Green Committee March 16,2023 7pm https://meet.google.com/gtb-vfrj-hcy MINUTES _________________________________________________________________________ Members present:Linda Chuss,Nicole Simpson Members absent:Ken Parker 1.Meeting was moved from originally scheduled date of March 21 to not conflict with the planning board walkability meeting,which is relevant to this workgroup. 2.EV Bylaw a.We will be at “Know your vote”for the Net Zero Resolution b.Nicole to reach out to Planning Board chair to see if they would like support in promoting the EV bylaw.We can offer our social media,flyers for town meeting, letters to the editor,newsletter in combination with our efforts for Net Zero Resolution c.Could also come prepared to speak at town meeting if needed 3.Hopkinton Vehicle analysis a.Nicole completed the analysis and created images to share https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/121fvwWQU-2m55nR9WgZmuMpY6Jhld qGh/edit#slide=id.p7 b.Linda provided feedback and suggestions i.Add info about total cars ii.Include national and state averages if available iii.Indicate the number of times increase for EVs and PHEVs in the trend iv.Comparison of emissions of different types of vehicles if we can find it v.Highlight the meaning of the EV models list –there are a variety of options c.We could do a series of educational materials rather than all at once.Some info may be a better fit for other info sets i.Charging,rebates,environmental benefits of EV /PHEV,etc d.Share on social media,but can also use on website and at events like Hop 101 e.Nicole to make updates per Linda’s suggestions,we’ll review at next SGC meeting,then share publicly f.May be helpful context for EV bylaw discussion also g.Should also share the updates with peers in Westborough and Natick doing similar analysis 4.Air travel a.Linda has started outlining information and statistics for air travel https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E72TBKdUpHEzagM8Tf0PTTmjUEr4S85a RQHDxtR01KY/edit#heading=h.dvdnpnxaw0bg b.Will summarize into a consumable format for sharing c.Includes recommendations for how to minimize impact (alternatives to flying, flying direct,combining trips,flying coach,etc) d.May use visuals comparing to emissions of vehicles /barbeque propane etc using comparison tool 5.EV fair likely in October.Not much activity yet 6.Police Fleet a.They are focused on hybrids and have one so far b.Opportunity for education,because they may not be familiar with the differences, rebates,charging setup,etc. c.Westborough has a Mach E,so that is a chance to show an example and success story d.Would be good to utilize our EV education materials and do some research on police vehicles specifically e.Let’s continue to discuss to find the right timing for reaching out for a meeting with police 7.The next meeting date and time to be scheduled over email and submitted to the town calendar Respectfully submitted, Nicole Simpson Approved on April 11 by Ken,Linda,and Nicole
