HomeMy Public PortalAbout86-126 (10-21-86)RESOLUTION NO. 86-126 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD URGING RESIDENTS TO VOTE AGAINST PROPOSITION 61 ON THE NOVEMBER 4, 1986 BALLOT. i WHEREAS, Proposition 61 limits the salaries of all public employees to 800 of the Governor's salary or $64,000; and, WHEREAS, this artificial limit would effect the City's ability to hire and retain qualified management personnel; and, WHEREAS, Proposition 61 takes away public employees rights to annually accumulate vacation and sick leave and could cost state and local governments billions of dollars for payment of past time saved; and, WHEREAS, The $64,000 annual limit for contract services set by Proposition 61 would effect the City's ability to contract for law enforcement, legal representation, waste collection, and street improvements; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Lynwood does herby urge all citizens to vote NO on Proposition 61 on the November 4, 1986 ballot. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lynwood on the 21st day of October , 1986.
