Robert Etris Joins Town of Leesburg as Deputy Director of
Utilities
Leesburg, VA (January 13, 2016) – Robert Etris
recently joined the Town of Leesburg as Deputy
Director of Utilities. In his new position, Robert
will oversee the department’s review of land
development applications, manage the
inspections division, assist with assessing and
planning system upgrades and provide support
to the operational divisions of the department.
Mr. Etris comes to the Town of Leesburg from
Whitman Requardt & Associates where he
managed a variety of water and wastewater
projects from the planning stages through
design and construction administration. Mr.
Etris previously served as director of the Public
Utilities Division for the City of Falls Church for eight years and manager of the engineering and
planning departments at Fairfax Water.
“Bob brings over 38 years of civil engineering and public utility experience to the Town,”
commented Amy Wyks, Leesburg’s Director of Utilities. “We’re delighted to have him as a
member of the Leesburg Utilities team.”
A Professional Engineer, Mr. Etris holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Urban Engineering
from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Water Works Association
(AWWA) and is past chair and past secretary of the Virginia Section. He received AWWA’s Fuller
Award in 1992 and the Distinguished Service Award in 1993. Prior to his career in civil
engineering, Mr. Etris served on active duty in the United State Navy as an Electronic Warfare
Technician.
