Leesburg, VA (January 22, 2016) – The Town of Leesburg has declared a Snow Emergency, effective at noon on Friday, January 22, 2016. All vehicles parked on the street must be removed from designated snow emergency routes (Market, King and Loudoun Streets) in order to facilitate snow removal. Any vehicles parked along designated snow emergency routes once snow removal operations begin will be towed. Once snow removal operations begin, primary roadways and thoroughfares will be cleared first, followed by secondary and subdivision roads. Priority is given to major arteries to allow for traffic flow. Secondary streets will be cleared as soon as the main roadways are cleared. Residents can assist in the efficient and expeditious removal of snow by doing the following:  Remove parked vehicles from streets and public rights-of-way.  Remove basketball hoops and other equipment from streets and cul-de-sacs.  Avoid shoveling sidewalks and driveways into the street, as this may result in snow plows pushing additional snow back into driveway areas.  Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary during snow and ice events. The Leesburg Snow Hotline (703-777-SNOW) provides up-to-date snow removal operations information. Residents can call the hotline to report non-emergency, snow-related problems.
