Town of Leesburg Reminds Town Businesses About Snow
Removal Policies
Leesburg, VA (January 22, 2016) – With significant snowfall predicted for the Town over the
next several days, Town officials remind businesses about their responsibilities for snow
removal:
Property owners are responsible for clearing the public sidewalks adjacent to their
properties.
Snow cleared from parking lots may not be placed in the public right-of-way.
This storm is expected to bring up to 24 inches of snow to the area. Primary routes will be
cleared first, followed by secondary routes and neighborhood streets. Town crews will work
around the clock to clear public streets, but snow removal operations will take time. Patience is
requested.
Business owners and employees can call the Leesburg Snow Hotline (703-777-SNOW) to get up-
to-date snow removal information and to report snow related problems. For more information
about winter weather preparedness and the Town’s snow removal operations, visit the Town
website at www.leesburgva.gov/snow.
Many commercial buildings in Leesburg have flat roofs and accumulations of heavy snow can
cause structural damage. Property owners or tenants who suspect structural damage due to
snow (cracks or bowing of roof or walls, roof groaning, etc.) should evacuate the building and
call 911.
Business who change their hours due to the storm are encourage to post the changes to their
websites and/or Facebook pages.
