Resolution Appointing Justin Galbraith to City Council
for a Term Ending January 1, 2024
WHEREAS, on July 11, 2023, council member Kevin Adams did duly resign his position as City Council
member, which resignation was accepted by City Council on said date; and,
WHEREAS, City Council is authorized to fill vacancies on Council per Chapter 372.13 of the Code of Iowa,
which states the appointment "shall be for the period until the next regular City election; and,
WHEREAS, on July 25, 2023, City Council passed Resolution 2023-056 a Resolution Providing for Notice
of Intent to Fill Council Vacancy by Appointment, and on August 9, 2023, a Public Notice of Intent to Fill
Vacancy by Appointment was published in the Quad City Times; additionally, this notice was duly published
on the City's website and Facebook page; and,
WHEREAS, on August 22, 2023, City Council reviewed several City Council Expression of Interest forms
submitted by various residents of the City of Riverdale; and,
WHEREAS, upon due consideration of the nomination, City Council desires to nominate Justin Galbraith
to the City Council.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, that:
Section 1.
City Council approves the nomination of Justin Galbraith as City Council member to fill
the vacancy left by the resignation of Council member Kevin Adams, said appointment to
be effective immediately, and for the period until the certification of the next City election
to be held the second Tuesday of November 2023, subject to the terms and requirements
of the aforementioned Chapter of the Code of Iowa.
