Resolution Authorizing a Floating Holiday for Office Staff
for use Through December 31, 2023
WHEREAS, on August 8, 2023, City Council discussed the 2023 holiday schedule, noting that the City of
Riverdale was open for business on several holidays in 2023 that were observed by banks, other cities, and
the federal government; and,
WHEREAS, City Council wishes to provide those employees eligible for holiday pay a single floating holiday
to be used at the employees' discretion between the date this resolution is passed and December 31, 2023;
and,
WHEREAS, City Council wishes for City Hall to remain open as many days as possible; therefore, at least
one employee shall remain on -shift on any day a floating holiday is taken by another employee; and,
WHEREAS, the funding source for this action varies based on hourly rates and split pay amongst several
departments.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, that:
Section 1. Office staff eligible for holiday pay shall be provided one floating holiday to be used
between the date this Resolution is passed and December 31, 2023.
Section 2. City Hall shall remain open and staffed by at least one employee on any day a floating
holiday is taken by another employee.
