Road Conditions in Leesburg Remain Treacherous
Residents are urged to stay off the roads as snow removal and emergency crews
respond to the storm.
Leesburg, VA (January 23, 2016) – With over 18 inches of snow on the ground and more
continuing to fall, the Town of Leesburg urges residents to stay off the roads. Road conditions
are extremely hazardous. Keeping the primary routes passable for emergency response is the
Town’s highest priority. Disabled vehicles divert crews from snow removal operations.
Pedestrians are also urged to stay inside. Walking in the roadways, since sidewalks have not
been clear, can interfere with first responders.
Residents are reminded to pace themselves when shoveling snow. Heart attacks are not
uncommon following big snow storms. Help your neighbors, especially the elderly, disabled and
out of shape.
Other safety precautions residents should take during the storm include:
Ensure that house numbers are visible from the street in case of emergency.
Clear snow from around fire hydrants.
Check on your neighbors.
