We have other town fields dedicated to soccer, baseball, softball, playgrounds and even a dog park in the making. Reed is currently the only one that has public tennis courts. Tennis is a source of enjoyment for many residents and lessons create revenue for the town. Currently the courts are in disrepair, the entrance is in need of signage, the roadway has numerous large potholes and overgrown vegetation, and the parking area in need of expansion. It would benefit the town to improve visibility and access to this hidden gem along with the aforementioned work. To that end, the current drive is to develop an understanding of the past impediments, to repair and do maintenance on the courts and grounds, to get creative with the options for improving the access, signage and parking, and to create a future plan for the fuller use of this valuable town resource. The primary discussion should be around improving access and egress by developing the 2 high visibility portions of the property on Wood Street as well as improving signage at the parking area on Whitehall Conservation land currently earmarked for Reed Park use and looking at the additional parking lot development on that land. 7:45 Health Fair The Town Board of Health is requesting a special one time permit to host a Health Fair on the Town Common on August 3 2019 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
