Leesburg Diversity Commission’s “One World” Float Wins Best
Interpretation of Halloween Award
Leesburg, VA (November 5, 2021) – The 65th
annual Leesburg Halloween parade, hosted and
organized by the Leesburg Kiwanis Club, featured 57
entries this year.
The float “One World”, created by the Leesburg
Diversity Commission, was selected as the 2021
winner of the “Best Interpretation of Halloween”. It
celebrated the commission’s mission, which helps
foster diversity and inclusion within the community
at-large.
“Winning at the Halloween parade was exciting, invigorating and an overwhelming affirmation
that all the hard work that went to create and produce our float delivered our message,” said
Diversity Commission Chair Linda McCray. “This was a win for the celebration of diversity. We
were honored to showcase our float.”
The float was created by commissioner Jasmin Martinez-Harris and Dana Kunzelman. It took
approximately two months to complete.
The float was selected by members of the Leesburg Kiwanis Club including the Capital District
Kiwanis Governor. Other winners included the New Ag School for “Best Float” and Mobile Hope
for “Most Creative Float”.
