Thomas Balch Library Features Recent Acquisitions and
Additions in November Exhibit
Leesburg, VA (November 12, 2021) – Thomas
Balch Library’s Rust Archives collection continues
to grow. A mission of Thomas Balch Library is to
collect and preserve archival, manuscript,
photographic, printed, cartographic, and
genealogical documentation of Leesburg,
Loudoun County, and the surrounding region.
The Library actively seeks and welcomes
donations documenting the life, culture, and
history of Leesburg and Loudoun County. Some
donations, such as those featured in this month’s
exhibit, include photographs, prints, drawings,
and other artwork depicting people, places,
events and cultural life relating to the area.
We invite you to explore our shared past and enjoy some of our most recent acquisitions,
including Japanese woodblock prints recently added to the Williams Family Papers, 1819 -1993
(M 010) and Chloe Chinn’s sketchbooks, a recent addition to the Constance Williams
deBordenave Collection, 1795-1935 (M 102).
Other collections featured in the exhibit include:
• Goldie E. Maffett Collection (M0131)
• Leesburg Branch of the Valley Bank Papers 1818-1859 (SC 0155)
• Loudoun County Emancipation Association 1896-2015 (M0145)
• Otto Spokas Collection (2019.0062)
• Zeigler Family Collection 1753-1918 (M 0144)
The exhibit is available to view during the month of November during regular Library hours:
• Monday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m.
• Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
The library is closed for lunch from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please
