Customers Encouraged to Shop Local This Holiday Season
Leesburg, VA (November 22, 2021) - The Town of Leesburg ‘s Economic Development
Department is encouraging everyone to shop local this holiday season.
According to the Small Business Administration, $48 of every $100 spent at a small business
stays in the local economy. When you spend the same $100 at a national retailer the amount is
only $14.
“Small, local businesses are the cornerstone of our economy and this year, more than ever,
they need our support,” said Economic Development Director Russell Seymour. “By shopping
local, you help keep our local businesses open and support the Town we all call home.”
By completing your shopping list at small, independently owned businesses, you are also
helping business owners provide local employment opportunities. This in turn helps other local
businesses and keeps additional revenue working within the local economy.
Some of Leesburg’s popular shopping destinations include downtown Leesburg, Village at
Leesburg, Virginia Village, and the Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets. For more information on
local shopping destinations, please visit www.leesburgva.gov/businesses/shopleesburg.
