She was united in marriage to Ralph Parry on September 20, 1957. Together, the Parrys made their home in Riverdale until 2010. Rosie enjoyed cooking and entertaining for friends and family, summer days with Ralph boating on the Mississippi, and taking many memorable family trips to Florida. City Council recently appointed Justin Galbraith to fill the open council seat for the remainder of 2023. Riverdale, meet Justin Galbraith! Justin, his wife Melissa, daughter Adalyn, and son Gus, moved to the Woods Estates subdivision in March of 2023. Their favorite thing about Riverdale is the quiet, friendly neighborhoods with great access to the bike trails. Justin is a current administrator for Bettendorf Middle School. His hobbies include riding his motorcycle, watching NFL and college football games, going on bike rides, working out, and watching his children’s sporting events. Justin and Melissa will celebrate 18 years of marriage this year! Adalyn, 16, and Gus, 14, are very active in school sports—which is where you will find the family on most weekends. Justin has never served in city government before but is excited to be on city council and be part of this community. I asked Justin what made him want to serve on council, and this was his answer: “I believe it is my civic duty to serve. I would like to be more involved in the community and make positive changes.” Be sure to say “hello” if you see Justin out and about, or come to a council meeting to meet him! Those left to honor her memory and spirit include her husband, Robert "Bo" Neff (Riverdale), daughter Promisse (Victor) Alfaro, son Keenan McCall, nephew Paxton Phillips, fur babies Lily and Charlie, and her Unicorn Sisters, in addition to a host of other friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers, too numerous to mention here. Dee had a generous heart; she volunteered for several Quad City events, served as a leader in the Hispanics Building Levels of Opportunity (HABLO) organization at Arconic, participated in the United Way Day of Caring, and took pride in working with the Quad City Night to Shine. Dee's giving spirit and kindness drew people to her; she had a tightknit group of friends (her Unicorn Sisters), traveled often, and loved to run, garden, swim, and kickbox. Dee's life was full and filled with love and kindness. The first time I met Dee, my then five-year-old daughter was selling Girl Scout cookies door-to-door in our neighborhood. We hadn't met them yet, but Dee was home, and she bought two boxes of cookies from Gabby, laughing that if "her Boey" was home, he would buy them all. Happy with the sale, Gabby was merrily on her way up the driveway when Bo pulled in. Introductions were made, and needless to say, Gabby left with an empty wagon. Bo bought all the Girl Scout cookies Gabby had for sale! She was tickled pink! And thus, a friendship was born. A celebration of Dee's life was held on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the LULAC Club in Davenport, Iowa. It was a sea of pink and sparkles, and Dee would have loved every moment of it. Friends and family enjoyed good food, happy memories, and took comfort in realizing just how many lives Dee had touched in her lifetime as evidenced by the crowd in attendance. In closing, I’m reminded of what Dee used to always say: "I don't sweat; I sparkle!" And she did; she sparkled everywhere she went! I think Dee was onto something - life is too precious to stress (sweat); we should instead embrace it (sparkle)! Thank you for teaching me that, "my Dee." Godspeed.
