RESOLUTION 2023-086
Resolution Designating Canadian Pacific Funds for Specific Purposes
WHEREAS, on May 9, 2023, City Council passed Resolution 2023-032 Resolution Approving a
Community Investment and Settlement Agreement with Canadian Pacific Railway Company; and,
WHEREAS, on June 30, 2023, the City received a wire transfer in the amount of $100,000 from Wire
Dakota Minnesota and East on behalf of Canadian Pacific pursuant to the aforementioned Resolution;
and,
WHEREAS, the City is currently engaged in a feasibility study with Snyder & Associates regarding traffic
flow and railway quiet zones along US Highway 67; and,
WHEREAS, additional studies, including a traffic study, may be required in order to consider proceeding
with the project; and,
WHEREAS, City Council wishes to reserve the $100,000 received from Canadian Pacific for the purpose of
paying (or previously paid) fees associated with the street and rail feasibility study, a possible traffic
study, and/or other expenses related to street and rail issues along US Highway 67; and,
WHEREAS, should there be remaining funds at the conclusion of said feasibility studies, City Council
wishes to designate those funds first to any future projects that come to fruition from the
aforementioned studies, and second to traffic light maintenance and improvement along US Highway 67.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa, that:
Section 1: The Clerk is directed to allocate future expenses related to US Highway 67 street and rail
expenses against the $100,000 received from Canadian Pacific.
Section 2:
Any additional remaining funds should be designated first to future projects resulting
from said feasibility studies. If no future projects come to fruition, any additional
remaining funds should be designated to traffic light maintenance and improvements
along US Highway 67.
