A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF CENTRAL BASIN MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT'S
"SHUT YOUR TAP" WATER CONSERVATION CAMPAIGN
WHEREAS, a clean and reliable water supply is vital to the fiscal integrity of the
City of Lynwood and to the health, quality of life, and economic future of its residents;

WHEREAS, the state of California is experiencing critical shortages in its
domestic water supply, resulting in an official drought proclamation by Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger and the adoption of emergency water conservation measures; and

WHEREAS, with a service area of 24 cities and two million customers within
Los Angeles County, Central Basin Municipal Water District has been a regional leader
in the cause of water conservation for the past two decades; and
WHEREAS, as part of ongoing efforts to engage its customers in conserving our
most precious natural resource, Central Basin has developed the "Shut Your Tap!"
("Cierre La Llave") public education campaign, strategically partnering with cities within
its service area to promote behavior that will result in increased water-efficiency within
our communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City of Lynwood is proud to express its full support of the
"Shut Your Tap!" ("Cierre La Llave") campaign and further encourages its residents to
take the first steps towards becoming part of the water supply solution by visiting
www.centralbasin.org, and joining in the effort to conserve and protect our most vital
resource.
Section 2. That copies of this resolution be forwarded to Central Basin
Municipal Water District.
Section 3. That this resolution becomes effective immediately upon adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 6~h day of January, 2009.
