Aldermen present were: Bohn e, Chu rch, Clark, Grant, Johns, Joslin, Le -i th, Lovestead, Macon, Wiegand. Absent was A1d. Lawrence. The purpose of this meeting was to approv e licenses an d to discuss an ordin an ce chan ge to gr ant women tav ern licen ses. COP, UNICATIONS: A letter was read from Mrs. Mabel Hanson stating tha ar rangements have not been consummated with Mr. Melvin Olsen to take over her beer an d liquor license, therefor e she would be picking up her re newal licen se. LICENSE APPLICATIONS The Rhinelan der JC's su - in Hodag Park for three days issue this license` was made by roll ca ll, carried un an imously an application to operate a beer co ncession e 4th of July celebration. A moti on to Chur ch and seconded by Aid .. J ohns. On Earl. L. Onson, President of Yellow Cab Co. s ubmitted an application for a renewal of the taxi licen se he was n ow holding. A motio n was made by A1d. Lovestead an d seconded by Aid. Church to grant this license a nd a letter be wr itten to Mr . Onson in structin g him to apply earlier for his license so that it can be a cted on at the regular June meeti ng. On roll call_, carried unan imoi. sly. A mo tio n was made by Aid. A lengthy discussion followed with City In specto r Treu indic ating that a sew age problem exists at the court City A ttorney Kru eger suggested that the license application be h eld up un til the Ju ly meeting to see if steps are taken to correct the problem. A motion was made by Aid. Church and second ed by A1d. Clark to hold up Mr. Krueger's license until the J uly meeting and Mr. Kruege r be so informed. Car ried unan imously. Mr . Steve G. Jonovic submitted an application for a Class "A" Malt & Wholesale Malt Beve rage license to operate at 1202 Iverso n St. A motion to gran t this license was made by Ald. Boh ne and seconded by Ald. At the last regular meeting t ti s licen se was held up pen ding some sewer and electrical alterations Mr. Krueger stated that an electrica l contractor is to correct the electrical h=zardseen s•an d that the sewage problem has been corrected by pumping and hau ling a way of the sewage. motion was made by A1d. This ordi nance involved property behind Reeve's Food - lan e which would be used in the c onstruction of a bakery in conj unction with the store. The annexatio n of an area in Pin e Lake we .s disc ussed by Mayor Mik ulich. The proced ure required for an nexatio n will have to be gone over again as it was not properly conducted r egarding the Pine Lake an nexati on. A special Planming Commission me eting is to be called to discuss this matt er. WATER: Req uested p ermissio n to p urchase a new t ractor-backhoe which will be decided on as to specifications and price at a special W ater Commit- tee meeting to be held on T uesday, July 13, 1965. A motion to authorize the purchase of a new tractor-backhoe by the Wate r Committee, was made by Ald. Lawrence and seconded by Ald. Bohne. On roll call, c arried una nimously . This p urchase is to be made if sufficient funds are avail able. Mayo r Mikulich read a fetter from Rep. Alvin E. O'Konski which i ndicated that o nly sewer a nd water projects will be eligible for federal aid under the proposed new public works bill. Pla ns for improvements in the sewage system are currently bei ng prepared so that this project will be ready for submission when Congress ad opts the proposed new bill. Wate r :Supe rintend ent Kratcha req uested permission to atte nd the Wis- co nsi n Secti on of the America n Wate r Wo rks Conference in Milwaukee on Sept- ember 22-24. A motion was made by A1d. Lawre nce and seconded by Ald. Macon that Mr. Kratcha be permitted to attend this co nfere nce. Carried unanimously. A motion was made by Add. Bohne and seco nded by Ald. Clark to gr ant this license. On roll call, a tie vote res ulted with Aldermen Church, Leith Love stead, Macon, and Wiegand voti ng agai nst . Mayor Mik ulich cast a yes vote to break the tie and to allow iss ua nce of the license. The reason for the 5 votes against the iss ua nce of t4 e license was because M r. Lala nde wou ld be employed by the VFW. R ECREATION: Recommended payment of $400.00 as a donation to the Jaycees for the Fourth of Ju ly celebration. A motio n for this payme nt was made by Ald. macon an d seconded by A ld. Bohne. On roll call, ca rried 9 to 1 with Ald . Johns votin g against.
