HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 01:196No. 01-196 Date tit Adoption_TM 21, 2001 SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 1712 AND SENATE BILL 842 AUTHORIZING ASSESSMENT OF DEVELOPMENT IMPACT FEES WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret are gravely concerned about the burden that is placed on the Municipal infrastructure and public schooI facilities by new development; and WHEREAS, there is presently pending in the New Jersey Legislature Senate Bill S-842 and Assembly Bill A-1712 (collectively the "Bills") which am designed to authorize municipalities to assess development impact fees; and WHEREAS, the Bills will enable municipalities to, among other things, require residential developers make contributions for improvements to infrastructure and for the cost of new, or expansion of existing parks, recreational facilities, public safety facilities and educational facilities, all of which are severely impacted by new residential development; and WHEREAS, the ability to assess impact fees for such purposes will be beneficial to the Borough of Carteret and its residents and will provide a measure of relief from the burdens associated with new development. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, and State of New Jersey, that the New Jersey Legislature be and is hereby urged to timely enact Senate Bill S-842 and Assembly Bill A-1712; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution shall be forwarded to the following: Senator Joseph Vitale Assemblywoman Arline Friscia Assemblyman John Wisniewski Adopted this 21st day of June, 2001 and certified as a true copy of the original on June 22, 2001.
