The meeting was called to order by the President of the Council, Mr. Locke, in the absence of the Mayor. Roll call was taken by the Clerk and all members were reported present with the exception of Alderman Sharkey who came in after roll call had been taken. It was moved by Alderman Kunach and seconded by Alderman Bohne that we dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting and that they stand approved. Motion carried. An application was made by Carl R. Moritz for a Class "B" fermented malt beverage license at 1412 Eagle Street formerly operated by Arthur Bloomquist. The license committee recommended that the license be granted upon the surrender of the present license for the same location. It was moved by Alder ,an Sawyer and seconded by Alderman Jo that recommendation ve approved and license granted upon surrender of present license for same location. Motion carried. A request was made by Mr. Fred Schueppert, chairman of the Rhinelander, Oneida County Airport Commission for $875.00 for fire fighting equipment for the airport. After a brief discussion it was moved by Alderman Chandler and seconded. by Alderman Sawyer that $875.00 be transferred from the equipment fund for this purpose. On roll call motion was carried. It was then moved by Alderman Kunach and seconded by Alderman Sawyer that an appropriation of 5875.00 be made for the purchase of this equipment. Motion carried. An ordinance to place the inspection department under the direction of the police and fire committee instead of the public works department was read for the first time. After some discussion it was moved by Alderman Kunach and se©anded by Alderman Kabel that rules be suspended t© Mpermit final action at this time and that we waive the second -reading of the ordinance. Motion carried. ORDINANCE All existing ordinances or codes relating to the city inspector are hereby repealed: An ordinance to place the inspectors office under the direction of the police and fire committee who handle protection of personas and property of the City of Rhinelander. 1. The city inspector shall keep up to date accurate records required by law for his office and submit a monthly report to the police and fire committee at their regular monthly meeting and the specific duties of the city inspector shall be as follows unless changed by the Common Council. The city inspector shall be charged with the following duties: 1. Building inspector: He shall issue building permits, enforcement of state and city building codes and keep accurate office records of all building activities. 2. Zoning Administration. Enforce correct district use of buildings. 3. Electrical inspctor: Issue all permits and inspect electric 1 installations as required by the state, city and public service rules. Shall bill electricians each month for permits, issue licenses and serve as secretary of the electrical board. 4. Television ordinance: He shall write antenna permits, inspect antennas and see out interference. 5. Special permitw: Write special permits for breaking out street surface and curb, erecting signs, scaffolds, fences and gas laterals. 6. Traffic Lights: Installation and maintenance of .-the traffic light system. 7. Weights and measures. Conduct a weight and measure program as required by the state law. 8. In addition - house numbering, prepare and attend board of appeals cases, planning commission duties - keep up on all code changes, keep zoning map up to date and enforce all these ordinances and keep all records up to date and he shall be on 24 hour call. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force upon passage and publication. It was moved by Alderman Kunach and seconded by Alderman Kabel that ordinance be adopted. On roll call motion was carried.
