AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND DEFINING THE BOUNDARIES AND TERRITORIES
OF THE COUNCILMANIC DISTRICTS IN THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
AS PROVIDED FOR IN CHAPTER 233 OF THE ACTS OF THEGENERALASSE2,IH�-'Y
OF THE STATE OF INDIANA OF1933, AS AMENDED, AND REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
Whereas, the United States census of 1970 si:ows that
the City of Richmond, Indiana, has a population of over thirty-
five thousand(35,000) and less than two hundred fifty thousand
(250,000), thus being a city of Second Class; and,
Whereas, Section 9 of Chapter 233 of the General Assembly
of the State of Indiana, approved March 9th, 1933, as amendea,
provides for the establishment of six (6) councilmanic district::
for Cities of the Second Class; and,
Whereas, in order to make
contain, as nearly as possible,
it is necessary to redefine the

FIRST DISTRICT
All that territory Iving within the following boundaries will
be known as the FIRST DISTRICT:
Beginning at a point where the South corporation line joins
the centerline of the Whitewater River; thence northerly along
centerline of said river to West line of Section 8; thence North
along the West line of Section 8 to the centerline of Abington
Pike; thence Northeasterly along the centerline of said Pike to
the centerline of Southwest "E" Street; thence West along the center-
line of Southwest "E" Street to the centerline of Southwest 3rd
Street; thence North along the centerline of Southwest 3rd Street
to the centerline of National Road West; thence Northeasterly along
the centerline of said National Road to the centerline of the White -

Section 2. This Ordinance, pursuant to the Acts of
1933 as amended, establishes Councilmanic Districts, as
hereinabove provided, and the nomination of candidates and
the election of members of the Common Council in the year
1971 and each year thereafter shall be in accordance therewith
and the laws governing primary and general elections, and to
that extent, this ordinance specifically repeals all ordinances
fixing and defining the boundaries and territories of
Councilman-ic Districts in conflict therewith.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor
of the City of Richmond, Indiana.

ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
Whereas, the United States census of 1970 shows that
the City of Richmond, Indiana, has a population of over thirty-
five thousand(35,000) and less than two hundred fifty thousand
(250,000), thus being a city of Second Class; and,
whereas, Section 9 of Chapter 233 of the General Assembly
of the State of Indiana, approved March 9th, 1933, as amended,
provides for the establishment of six (6) councilmanic districts
for Cities of the Second Class; arid,
Whereas, in order to make each councilmanic district
contain, as nearly as possible, an equal number of electors,
it is necessary to redefine the boundaries of the councilmanic
districts, within the corporate limits of the City of Richmond,
Indiana.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows:
Section 1. That hereafter the said City of Richmond,
Indiana, shall be divided into six (6) Councilmanic Districts
which shall be numbered, bounded and defined as follows:
FIRST ITSTRICT
All that territory lving within the following boundaries will
be known as the FIRST DISTRICT:
Beginning at a point where the South corporation line joins
the centerline of the Whitewater River; thence northerly along
centerline of said river to Nest line of Section 8; thence North
along the West line of Section 8 to the centerline of Abington
Pike; thence Northeasterly along the centerline of said Pike to
the centerline of Southwest "E" Street; thence West along the center-

Section 2. This Ordinance, pursuant to the Acts of
1933 as amended, establishes Councilmanic Districts, as
hereinabove provided, and the nomination of candidates and
the election of members of the Common Council in the year
1971 and each year thereafter shall be in accordance therewith
and the laws governing primary and general elections, and to
that extent, this ordinance specifically repeals all ordinances
fixing and defining the boundaries and territories of
Councilmanic Districts in conflict therewith.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor
of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
