Leesburg Town Council Seeks Candidates to Fill Vacant Seat
Letters of interest and resumes must be received by Tuesday, February 16, 2016
Leesburg, VA (February 9, 2016) – The Leesburg Town Council is seeking candidates to fill the
council member seat vacated by David Butler after he was appointed Mayor on February 8,
2016, during a special meeting of the Town Council.
Any person interested in serving on the Leesburg Town Council should submit a letter of
interest and resume to the Clerk of the Council via email at lgreen@leesburgva.gov or by mail
to 25 West Market St, Leesburg, VA 20176. Letters must be received by close of business on
Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
In order to be eligible for appointment, a person must be at least 18 years old, be eligible to
vote in the Town of Leesburg, and have been a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia for at
least one year. The appointment will be for the term of the vacant council member seat which
expires on December 31, 2016.
The Town Council is expected to make an appointment to fill the vacant council member seat at
a special meeting to be called before the next regular work session. A specific date and time for
the special meeting will be advertised as soon as it is set.
