SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 2413 AND SENATE BILL 1288
REGARDING CLEAN COMMUNITIES PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret has been receiving Clean Communities
Grant Program funding on an annual basis; and
WHEREAS, the funding is used to conduct a litter abatement program that
includes the purchase of equipment and the removal and disposal of litter in parks,
playgrounds and along Borough roadways, as well as a portion being used for
education programs; and
WHEREAS, legislation authorizing such funding has expired and, unless
reenacted by the legislature, grant funding will not henceforth be available
through the Clean Communities Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, there is presently pending Senate Bill S-1288 and Assembly Bill A-
2413 which would preserve the Clean Communities Grant Program and make
funding available to communities such as the Borough of Carteret.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, and State of New Jersey, that the New
Jersey Legislature be and is hereby urged to timely enact Assembly BilI A-2413
and Senate Bill S-1288; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution shall be forwarded
to the following:
Senator Joseph Vitale
Assemblywoman Arline Friscia
Assemblyman John Wisniewski
