RESOLUTION URGING INVESTIGATION OF PRICE GOUGING
BY THE OIL INDUSTRY
WHEREAS, prices for barrels of crude oil have fluctuated significantly
throughout the past year; and
WHEREAS, although the price of crude oil per barrel has fluctuated
significantly, the citizens of the State of New Jersey and the Borough of Carteret
have not realized the benefit of lower prices during the periods where there has
been a drop in the price of crude oil per barrel by seeing a reduction of the price
of gasoline itself; and
WHEREAS, the consistent high price of gasoline is causing hardship to the
citizens of the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex and State of New
Jersey.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Borough Council of the
Borough of Carteret, that it strongly urges the Governor of the State of New
Jersey to take steps to investigate price gouging by the oil industry in the State of
New Jersey, so that citizens of the State of New Jersey and the Borough of
Carteret may benefit during periods when there is a drop in the price of crude oil
per barrel by seeing a reduction in the price of gasoline.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that notice of the adoption of this Resolution
shall be forwarded to the Governor of the State of New Jersey and the members of
the General Assembly and the Senate of the State of New Jersey representing the
citizens ofthe Borough of Carteret.
