Leesburg Town Council to Hold Special Meeting at 7:30pm on
Monday, February 22, 2016, to Fill Vacant Council Seat
Leesburg, VA (February 12, 2016) – The Leesburg Town Council will hold a special meeting at
7:30pm on Monday, February 22, 2016. The meeting will be held in the Council Chamber on the
second floor of the Leesburg Town Hall (25 West Market Street, Leesburg, VA 20176). The
Council’s regularly scheduled work session will follow the special meeting immediately.
The purposes of the special meeting are to hear public comment regarding the candidates for
appointment to the Town Council and to appoint a qualified voter of the election district to the
Town Council.
Candidates for appointment to the Town Council must be at least 18 years old, reside and be
registered to vote in the Town of Leesburg, and have resided in the Commonwealth for the past
year. The appointment will be an interim appointment to fill the council member seat vacated
by David Butler upon his appointment as Mayor on February 8, 2016. The term of the
appointment will be until a council member is elected and qualifies in the November 2016
election.
Any person interested in being appointed should submit a letter of interest and résumé to the
Clerk of the Council by close of business on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Letters may be
