HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0534ORDINANCE N0.534 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYI~?'t~£OOD APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY IN THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES LYING IdESTERLY OF THE LOS ADIGELES COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL CHANNEL. WHEREAS, pursuant to the °Annexation of Uninhabited Terri- ,~tory Act of 1939", a petition was filed with the City Clerk and duly presented to the City Council of the City of Lynwood on April 18, 1950, requesting the annexation by the City of Lynwood of that certain unin- habited territory contiguous to the City of Lynwood designated as !'that certain property in the County of Los Angeles lying westerly of the Los Angeles County Flood Control Channel", and hereinafter particularly described; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2272 adopted by the City Council of the City of Lynwood on the 18th day of April, 1950, and published in the Lynwood Press, the City Counc l of the City of Lynwood duly gave notice of and fixed the 16th day of May, 1950, at 8:C0 p. m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, Lynwood, Calif- ornia, as the day, hour, and place when and where any person owning real property in such territory so published to be annexed and having any objection to the proposed annexation might appear before said City Council and show cause why such territory should not be so annexed; and FTHEREAS, No protests have been filed; and I4HEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity with law; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does ordain as follows: - Section 1: That pursuant to the °Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act 'of 1939" the annexation of that certain uninhabited terri- tory contiguous to the City of LynVrood in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, designated as "that certain property in the County of Los Angeles lying westerly of the Los Angeles County Flood Control Channel" as hereinafter more particularly described, hereby is approved. Said property lying westerly of the Loa Angeles County Flood Control Channel ie included within the boundary line described as follows: -1- Beginning at the northeast corner of Lot 21 of Tract No. 7984 as shown on map recorded in Book 90, Pages 34 and 35 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County, California, said point being on the easterly boundary line of the CSty of Lyntaood as said boundary line ex- isted April 1, 1950; thence easterly along the south- erly line of Imperial Highway to the produced easter- ly line of Duncan Avenue, 60 feet wide, as said Duncan Avenue exists southerly of Imperial Highway; thence southerly to the southwest corner of Lot 10, Tract 10587 as shown on map recorded in Book 162, Pages 27 and 28 of i`~apa, records of said county, said point being on the northerly line of the first alley south- erly of Imperial Highway; thence easterly along said last described line and its easterly prolongation to the easterly line of Wright Road, 50 feet wide; thence southerly along said easterly line of Wright Road to the northerly line of Century Boulevard, 50 feet wide; thence easterly along said last described line to its intersection with aline 208 feet westerly of and.par- allel to the vreaterly line of the Los Angeles County Flood Control Channel, said distance being measured along the southerly line of Century Boulevard; thence southerly along said last~deacribed line to the nor- therly line of Lot 6 of Slausson Tract as shoum on map recorded in Book 3, Page 348, P-3lseellaneous Records of said County, said point being also on the northerly boundary line of the City of Lynwood as said boundary line existed April 1, 1950; thence east- erly along said boundary line to the westerly line of the Los Angeles County Flood Control Channel; thence northerly along said last described line to a point . 46 feet northerly of and measured at right angles to the southerly line of Imperial Highway, 96 feet wide, said point being on the southerly boundary line of the City of South Gate as said boundary line existed April 1, 1950; thence westerly along said last des- cribed line and folloG.+ing the same in all its various courses to its intersection with the aforementioned easterly boundary line of the City of Lyn*aood; thence southerly along said last described line following the same in all its various courses to the point. of begin- ning. Section 2: This ordinance is urgently required for the im- mediate preservation of public peace, health and safety in the City of Lynwood and shall be in effect immediately upon adoption. The following is a specific statement showing the emergency of this ordinance: The City of Lynwood is nearly 100 per cent built and the need for additional territory for expansion is imperative. Section 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and shall cause same to be published once in the Lynwood Press.
