HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0517~~, r ` ORDINANCE N0. 517 AN ORDINANCE OF THE-CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING OFELOSNANGELES OIN THETVICINITYEOF~THE II2ER-UNTY SECTION OF WRIGIiT ROAD"AND THE PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILWAY CONft'ANY!S PRIVATE RIGHT OF.WAY DESIG- NATED AS "UTRIGHT ROAD ANNEX N0. i." y;HF'RF'AS, pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939" a petition was filed with the City Clerk and duly pre- sented to the City Council oP the City of Lynwood on Niay 23, lg4g, re- ~ueating the annexation by the City of Lynwood of certain uninhabited territory contiguous to the City of Lynwood in the County of Los Angeles in the vicinity of the intersection of WRICHT ROAD and the Pacific Electric Rai1F.*ay Company's Private Right of Way, designated as °Vdright Road Annex No. 1" which is hereinafter more particularly described; and I+~rIEREAS, by Resolution No. 2243 adopted by the City Couneil of the City of Lynvrood on the 1st day of November, 1948, and published in the Lynwood Press, the City Council of the City of Lyni~rood,duly gave notice of and fixed the 6th day of December, 1849, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p. m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, Lynorood, California, as the day, hour, and place when and where any person o~ming real property in such territory so published to be annexed and having any ob,~ection to the proposed annexation might appear before said City Council .and show cause why such territory should not be so annexed; and S~,IHEREA5, no protest hae been filed; and j^fHEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity r,*ith law; IdOTrt, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does ordain as follows: Section'1: That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939" the annexation of that certain uninhabited ter- ritory contiguous to the City of Lynwood in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, designated as "Vdright Road Annex No. 1" as herein- after more particularly described is hereby approved. -1- r Said property above referred to is included within the following described exterior boundary line, to-wit: Beginning at the intersection of the northerly .line of the Pacif is Electric Railway Company~s Private Right of Way with the produced easterly line of Lot 14, Tract No. 5818 as shown on map recorded in Book 140, Page 43 of Maps, Records of Loa Angeles County, California, said point being on the easterly boundary line of the City of Lynwood as said boundary line existed June 21, 1948; thence easterly along the northerly line of said right of way to the easterly line of Wright Road; thence southerly along the easterly line of PTright Road to the , southerly line of Lot 6 of Slausaon Tract, as aho~.m on Pdap recorded in Book 3, Page 348 of Miscellaneous .Records of said County; thence easterly along the southerly line of said Lot 6 to the southerly line of aforementioned Pacific Electric Railway Company~s Private Right of Way; thence easterly along said last described line to the westerly line of the Los Angeles County Flood Control Channel; thence northerly along said last described line to the northerly line of aforementioned Lot 6 of Slausaon Tract; thence westerly along the northerly line of said Lot 6 to the easterly line of 19right Road; thence southerly along the easterly line of tVright Road to its intersection vrith a line 50 Peet northerly of (measured at right angles) and parallel to the northerly line of the Pacific Electric Railway Company~s Private Right of t~Tay; thence westerly along said last described parallel line to the aforementioned easterly boundary line of the City of Lynwood; thence southerly along said. easterly boundary line to the point~of beginning: Section 2: This ordinance is urgently required for the im- mediate preservation of public peach, health and safety in the City of LynErood and shall be in effect immediately upon adoption. The following is a specific statement showing the emergency of this ordinance: The City of Lynv~ood is nearly 100 per cent built up and the need for addition- al territory for expansion is imperative. Section 3: That Ordinance No. 508 finally adopted by the City Council of the City of Lynwood on the 20th day of September, 1949, which ordinance was defective due to an error in defining the exterior boundary of the lands proposed to be annexed, is hereby repealed. Section 4: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and shall cause same to be published once in the Lynr~rood Press. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council oP said City held on the 6th day of December, 1949, and finally adopted and -~- :, ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council held_on the 20th day of Deoember, 199, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN Bruner.
