AN ORDINANCE OF TFIE CITY OF LYNtij100D PRESCRIBING
TAE SALARIES OF ITS OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES.
The City Council of the City of Lyno*ood does ordain as
follows:
Section 1: Salaries and compensation for officers and
employees of the City of Lynwood shall be as follows:

Base pay is the salary or compensation of the officers and
employees indicated before fixing of the "cost of,living adjustment".
Gross salaries result from adding the "cost of living ad,just-
ment" to the base pay. The "cost of living adjustment" amount is
arrived at by applying the following formula, based upon the "Consumera~
-'-
Price Index for Moderate Income Families" as supplied by the United
States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Region V, for
Loa Angeles:
Base salaries a.re assumed the equivalent of an index of
130.00. Point value is established at :1.40 per point. Minimum index
variation required to affect gross salary is established at 2~ points,
applied to the nearest full point with .51 being the overbalancing
factor. Adjustment may be accomplished from the index reported March
30th and September 30th., effective July 1st and January 1st, respectively.
Sectien 2: In the event there is to be an adjustment in
accordance t~aith the foregoing formula, the City Dianager shall report
such adjustment and the basis thereof, to the City Council. Such report
shall be in Vrriting. Upon approval of such report by the City Council,
such adjustment may be put into effect.
Section 3: No officer or employee shall have any vested right
in the base pay or cost of living adjustment as herein set forth and
the City Council may, from time to time, change, alter, or modify any
of the foregoing schedules, either of base pay or cost of living adjust-
ment.
Section 4: Nothing herein contained shall be construed in
any way affecting Ordinances Numbers 427 and 229, Civil Service Ordin-
ances of the City of Lym~ood, or the rules and regulations adopted pur-
suant thereto.
Section 5: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance and cause same to be published once in the Lynwood Press,
a ne~•aspaper of general circulation, printed, published, and circulated
in the City of Lynwood.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said
City held on the 18th day of October, 1949, and finally adopted and
ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 1st
day of Diovember, 1949, by the folloiaing vote: `
