HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0508., P ~-6 ~ .:` .~ ORDINANCE N0, 508 AN OrcDIi~dANCE OF THE CITY GF LYNT^!GOD APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY TN THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES LYING NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF LiiRIGHT ROAD AND THE PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILWAY CORi- PANY'S PRIVATE RIGHT OF WAY. L4fiEREAS, pursuant .to the "Annexatior. of Uninhabited Terri- tort' Aet of 1939", a petition was filed ~•aith the City Clerk and duly presented to the City Council of the City of Lynwood on July 5, 1949, requesting the annexation of the City of Lyn~~?ood of that certain un- inhabited territory contiguous to the City of Lym~rood designated as "that certain property in the County of Loa Angeles lying near the intersection of Wright Road and the Pacific Electric Railway Company's Private Right of S4ay, and hereinafter particularly described; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2224• adopted by the City Council of the City of Lynwood on the 19th day of July, 194.9, and published in the Lynwood Prose, the City Council of the City of Lynwood duly gave . notice of and fixed the 16th day of August, 1949, at 8:00 o'clock p.m. in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, Lynwood, California, as the day, hour, and place when and where any person otm- ing real property. in such territory so published to be annexed and having any objection to the proposed annexation might appear before said City Council and sho~•r cause why such territory should not be so annexed; and WHE?.EAS, no protest has been filed; and 4~IIEREAS, all proceedings have been in conformity with law; NOGi, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of LynUrood does ordain as follows: Section 1: That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939" the annexation of that certain uninhabited ter- ritory contiguous to the City of Lync~rood in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, designated ~,s 11 that certain property in the County of Loa Angeles lying near the intersection of t~lright Road and the Pacific Electric Railway Company's Private Right of Way"' as hereinafter more particularly described ,hereby is approved: -1- Said property lying near the'interaec,tion of 4~tright Road and the Pacific Electric Company's Private Right of [day is ~Lncluded within the boundary line described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the northerly line oY the Pacific Electric Railway Company's Private Right of t~1ay with the produced easterly line of Lot 14, Tract No. $818 as shown on map recorded in Book 140, Page 43 of Mapa, Records of Los Angeles County, California, said point being on the easterly boun- dary line of the City of Lynwood as said boundary line existed June 21; lg4-~; thence easterly along the northerly line of said right of way to the east- erly line of [~Tright Road; thence southerly to the southwesterly corner of Lot 6 of Slauason Tract, as shoom on ~~.p recorded in Book 3, Page 348 of Miscel- laneous Records of said County; thence easterly along the southerly line of said Lot 6 to the southerly line of aforementioned Pacific Electric Railway Company's Private Right of way; thence easterly along said last described line to the ~n~esterly line of the Los Angel- es County Flood Control Channel; thence northerly along said last described line to the northerly line of aforementioned Lot 6 of Slausaon Tract; thence testerly along the northerly line of said Lot 6 to the easterly line of T,dright Road; thence southerly along the easterly line of t4right Road to its inter- section *mi.th the line 50 feet northerly oP (measured at right angles) and parallel to the northerly line of the Pacific Electric Railway Company's Private Right of ?Tay; thence westerly along said last des- cribed parallel line to the aforementioned easterly boundary line of. the City of Lynwood; thence south- erly along said easterly boundary line to the point of beginning. Section 2: Th3.s or~.3.nance is urgently required for the im- mediate preservation of public peace, health and safety in the City of Lynwood and shall be in effect immediate~.y upon adoption. The follorr- ing is a specific statement showing the emergency of this ordinance: The City of Lynurood is nearly 100 per cent built and the need for additional territory for commercial expansion is imperative. Section 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the ?doption of this ordinance and shall cause same to be published once in the Lymrood Press, First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 16th cosy of Au~uat , 1949, and finally adopted and ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 20th day of Seatember 1949, by the following vote: -2- AYES• councilmen: Bruner JgnsPn.,.
