HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 0505ORDINANCE NO. 505 AN ORDINANCE OF THE INCORPOPATED CITY OF LYNWOOD ESTABLISHING TAX DISTRICTS NUMBERS 1 AND 2 OF SAID CITY, FIXING THE RATES OF'.TAXES, AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1949, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1950. The City Council of the City of Lynwood, California, does ordain as follows, to -wit: Section 1: That for the purposes of taxation, all of that territory and lands lying and being in the corporate limits of the City of Lynwood, California, prior to July 1, la ' 41 be known as and. constitute tax district No. 1 of said City. Section 2: That all of that territory and lands known as "Broadacres" and "Ozell Manor Annex No. 1 and No. 2" and described as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the westerly line of Bullis Road with the westerly prolongation of the southerly line of Tract No. 15325 as per map recorded in Book 338, Pages 29 and 30 of Maps, Records of Los County, California; thence easterly along said Angeles . southerly line to the easterly line of Bradfield Avenue; thence northerly along said easterly line of Bradfield / Avenue to the northerly line of Carlin Avenue (33 feet wide); thence easterly along the northerly line of Car - lin Avenue to the westerly line of Caress Street; thence the westerly line of Caress Street and northerly along the easterly line of Tract No. 11378 as per map recorded In Book 203, Pages 27 and 28 of Maps, Records of said County, to the northerly line of said. Tract, said list described point being on the southerly boundary line of the City of Lynwood as said boundary line existed on July 1, 1949, thence westerly along said boundary line and following the same in all its various courses, to the point of beginning; in Los Angeles County, California, be known as and constitute Tax District No. 2 of the City of Lynwood. Section 3: That the amount of money necessary to be .raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the corporate limits of the City of Lynwood, County of Los Angeles, State of California, in- cluding Tax District Number 1 and 2 of said City, to provide for carry- ing on the various functions of municipal government in said City for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1, and. ending June 30, 1950, is hereby fixed at the sum of One Hundred Sixty -seven Thousand One Hundred Eighty -three Dollars and Seventy -nine Cents (167,183.79)• -1- Section 4: That in addition to the amount of money neces- sary to be raised as aforesaid, the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the corporate limits of said City in Tax District No. 1 and No. 2 of said City to provide for the payment to the State Employees' Retirement System ac— cording to the terms of contract with the State of California for making the officials and employees of the City of Lynwood members of the State E,moloyees' Retirement System; authority for the execution of said contract is granted by Ordinance No. 426, adopted by a vote of the qualified electors of the City of Lynwood the 16th day of April, 1946. For the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1949 and ending June 30, 1950, it is hereby fixed at the sum of Forty -nine Thousand, Two Hundred Ninety -nine and Thirty /One - hundredthe Dollars (,49,299.30). Section 5: That in addition to the amount of money necessary to be raised as aforesaid, the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the limits of Tax District No. 1 of said City of Lynwood, to provide for the payments of the an- nual interest, and that portion of the principal as shall become due before the time for fixing the next general tax levy of those certain bonds in the principal amount of Fifty Thousand and No /One- hundredthe Dollars ($50,000.00) as authorized by Ordinance No. 94 of said City of Lynwood, adopted on the let day of October, 1927, by the Board of Trustees of said City, is the sum of Five Thousand Tt -,ro Hundred Forty - six and 35/100ths Dollars ($5,246.35)• Section 6: That in addition to the amount of money necessary to be raised as aforesaid, the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the corporate limits of said City and in Tax Districts Nos. 1 and 2 of said City, to provide for a capital fund, for capital outlays and for public improvements, to -erit: public parks as authorized by provisions of Ordinance No. 322 of said City, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1949 and ending June 30, 1950, is hereby fixed'at the sum of Three Thousand, Nine -2- I Hundred Forty -three and 94/100ths Dollars ($3,943•ay'). Section 7: That for the purpose of raising the sums of money necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property within the City limits of said City of Lynwood as the revenue to carry on the function of the variolis departments of said City; to provide a park capital account; to provide payment to State Employees' Retirement Fund as authorized in Ordinance No,. 426, and to retire the bonds and coupons becoming due as provided by Ordinance No. 94, the rates of taxes are hereby fixed and taxes are hereby levied on all taxable pro- perty within the City limits of said City, included in Tax Districts Numbers 1 and 2.for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 194.0 and ending June 30, 1950 upon each x;100.00 as the assessed value of said property as assessed by the County Assessor and equalized by the Board of Super- visors of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, for the said fiscal year, as follows: TAX DISTRICT No.l No.2 For General Purposes • 8478 .8478 For the Park Fund • .02 For the Interest and Sinking Fund for City Hall Bonds Authorized at .0272 Election Held October, 1927 For City's Contribution to State Retirement Fund authorized at Election Held April, 1946 2 5 — - 2 $1.1450 $1.1178 Section 8: That the City Clerk of said City shall certify to the passage of this ordinam e and cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, pub- lished and circulated in said City of Lynwood. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 16th day of August, 1949 and finally adopted and ordered adjourned published at an regular meeting of said Council held on the 22nd day of August , 1949, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Bruner, Willard, Williams. -3- NOES: Councilmen None.
