A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVING THE 2009 STREET CLOSURES SCHEDULE AND CREATING A
PROCEDURE FOR DEALING WITH UNFORESEEN STREET CLOSURE
REQUESTS
WHEREAS, the California Vehicle Code Section 21101 (e) requires an
I°" ordinance or resolution prior to temporarily closing a portion of a street for
',~~ celebrations, local special events, and other purposes; and
` WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood wishes to create a systematic process for
dealing with street closures; and
WHEREAS, the costs associated with street closures is budgeted in the
current fiscal year Department of Public Works budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council adopts the 2009 Street Closure
Schedule (Exhibit "A").
Section 2. Any and all future street closure requests must be submitted
in writing to the City's traffic/engineering staff for review and recommendation to
the City Council. Requests should be submitted at least 2-3 weeks prior to the
event. The types of events that qualify for a street closure would include any
major City sponsored events.
,~., Section 3. This resolution shall go into effect immediately upon its
j adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 20th day of January, 2009.
