COMMITTEE MEETING — Began at 12:15 p.m.
• CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Committee members Claire Remsberg, Dave Peugh, and Craig Vroom were present.
Also present was Delta James, City Planner.
• MINUTES APPROVAL
• June 15, 2017: All committee members voted to approve the minutes.
• PUBLIC ART PROJECTS
• Lardo Bridge: The committee reviewed the Call to Artists. Claire will help post
the Call. The committee agreed that eligibility for artists would include
residence in Idaho or contiguous states or artists with a demonstrated
connection to McCall. Craig will work to identify a member of the Rotary Club
to serve on the artist selection committee. Other selection committee
members include Heather Susemihl, architect, Mark Wasdahl from ITD, Sue
Dixon, Public Art Advisory Committee member, and Theresa Burkes, artist.
The goal is to select an artist by November in order to allow for coordination
with the McCall Arts and Humanities Council's winter programs. The current
budget for the project is $50,000. This includes $25,000 Our Town grant from
the National Endowment for the Arts and $25,000 of City funds, most of
which are a result of funds left over from the Goats project due to generous
private contributions.
• Senior project — Laurel Crawford: Claire is mentoring Laurel as she creates a
mural panel for installation in the Hotel McCall courtyard.
FUNDING
• NEA Our Town grant: see above
• City: FY 18 budget is not quite finalized, but, hopefully, it will include
additional appropriation for public art.
• Idaho Commission on the Arts: The committee should be considering what
project should be used for an Idaho Commission on the Arts grant this year.
The grant application is due in late January.
• Private contributions: Staff will prepare a one -page Lardo Bridge project
summary to utilize for committee private fundraising efforts.
NEXT MEETINGS
• November or December, 2017 — staff will send out another scheduling poll to
set a meeting date that works for the committee members.
• ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 1:25 p.m.
