SUBJECT: Utilization of remaining funds from the construction of Fire Station #2 for
the rehabilitation of Fire Station #4

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approve
SUMMARY: Approximately $348,252.57 of previously allocated funds remain unspent after
the construction of new Fire Station #2. At the direction of the FY2021 Budget Committee
Chair the Fire Department requests to utilize these existing funds for the rehabilitation of
Fire Station #4. Estimates for the projects range from $379,000-$506,094 with all
contemplated alternates. The cost would be less if alternates are not selected. If approved
the project would be bid with alternates and staff would return to the city council for
approval before construction would begin.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Fire Station #2 was substantially completed in 2019 at
the end of that process approximately $348,252.57 remained. Requests to utilize those
funds went through the Public Safety committee on Oct 31st 2019 and was recommended
to proceed to the Finance committee on January 23rd 2020. There was no action taken at
the Finance committee. At the direction of the FY2021Budget Committee Chair this bill was
requested to come before the finance committee for reconsideration in FY2020.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, ADJUSTING THE 2019-2020
BUDGET OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, BY REALLOCATING FUNDS WITHIN THE
GENERAL FUND.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby adjust the budget within the General Fund $348,252.57 as
indicated on Exhibit A, attached hereto.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its
passage and approval.
