RESOLUTION NO. 87 -2742
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZING THE HISTORICAL
SOCIETY OF TEMPLE CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the community, now known as the City of Temple
City, was founded by Walter Temple in 1924 and was at that time
known as the town of Temple; and
WHEREAS, the town of Temple was officially designated
Temple City in 1936 and incorporated on May 25, 1960; and
WHEREAS, the residents of the City identified a need for
an official society to encourage the preservation and protection
of historical landmarks of the community; and
WHEREAS, interested citizens have organized a non - profit
organization to promote the interest of history in the community
and to record the customs and habits of the people who have lived
in the area; and
WHEREAS, it must be the objective of the citizens of
Temple City to perpetuate the memory and deeds of those persons
who, by their efforts, contributed to the historical development
of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Historical Society of Temple City on Wednes-
day, October 21, 1987, will be installing their first Board of
Directors;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple
City hereby officially recognizes the HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF
TEMPLE CITY as the organization entrusted with the responsibility
of collecting, preserving and perpetuating the memory and history
of the City of Temple City.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 20th da of October, 1987.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted
by the City Council of the City of Temple City at a regular
meeting held on the 20th day of October, 1987, by the following
vote:
AYES: Councilmen- Atkins, Dennis, Swain, Gillanders
NOES: Councilmen -None
ABSENT: Councilmen - Froehle
