HomeMy Public PortalAbout10/08/74 Special CCMThe City Council of Medina met in special session on October 8, 1974 at 7.55 P.M. Members present: Mayor Wayne Neddermeyer; Councilmen Arthur Theis, Thomas Stevens Donald DesLauriers, Robert Franklin; Clerk Donna Roehl 65 1. Leo Leuer Discussed with council sick leave pay and paid holidays, noted number of years each man has been employed. It was stated that Police Force has had one day of sick leave per month since 1970. Motion by Robert Franklin, seconded by Arthur Theis to credit full time road employees with sick leave on the same basisias police employees, beginning with employment as of January, 1970. Motion carried unanimously Motion by Robert Franklin, concerning sick leave. 1. All full time employees, upon certification of council, are entitled leave at the rate of 1 d'ay per month to a m.iximum of 60 days. 2. All employees working at least half time, but less than full of council be entitled to accumulate sick leave at the rate of imam of 30 days. 3. Employees presently employeed by city, upon certification of to sick leave they would have accumulated since January, 1970. 4. Full time employees hours shall be 170 hours per month or more shall be 85 hours or more, as an average. Because of legalities envolved Council delayed voting on above motion until they had conferred with city attorney. Legal holiday pay was also tabled until that seconded by Arthur Theis that Council establish the following polio to accumulate sick time, upon certification day per month to a max - council, shall be entitled and half time employees such time as time. 2. Sewer bills Council instructed clerk to send letter to.Auto Body Rebuilders requesting immediate pay- ment of arrears of previous renter, a $25.00 meter deposit and the current sewer and water bill. 3. Motion by Robert Franklin, seconded by Arthur Theis to pay Order Check 5044 in the amount of $57.10 to U.S. Postoffice. Motion carried unanimously 4. Issuance of Additional liquor licenses Discussion as to whether or not Medina could issue additional On -Sale Liquor licenses. Any interested parties should be asked to appear before council and they will discuss possibilities because issuance would require a referendum. 5. Nursing Service Motion by Robert Franklin, seconded by Thomas Stevens to invite Hilda Boyle of the Sub- urban Public Health Nursing Service to the December Council meeting to explain the service as it applys to Medina. Motion carried unanimously 6. Engineers daily log Council instructed clerk to ask McCombs -Knutson to send an itemized daily log for their bills, same to be inspected by Council. 7. Anne Dorweiler Anne Dorweiler requested a raise in pay beginning with January, 1975. She also stated that she would not ask to be reappointed to the Planning Commission when her present term expires in 1976. Motion by Thomas Stevens, seconded by Arthur Theis to grant a 50 cent an hour raise in pay effective January 1, 1975. Motion carried unanimously 66 8. John Day property Donald DesLauriers explained that a lot had been purchased on the NE corner of the John Day development. The purchaser has been informed that he cannot be issued a building permit until the road has been constructed. 9. Greentree West Council instructed Anne Dorweiler to again send a letter to Plymount Planning Comm. stating our reasons for opposing Greentree Westproposed project on Brockton Lane. 10. Budget Discussion and work Motion by Thomas Stevens, seconded by Arthur Theis to approve budget as attached. Motion carried unanimously 11. Insurance Council requested that Rudy Meehan of the Waygata Agency be invited to attend the November Council meeting and explain the insurance package he has prepared for Medina. 12. Housing and Redevelpment Robert Franklin asked that he be allowed to present information on the establishment of a Housing and Redevopment Authority for Medina. 13. Planning Commission member Thomas Stevens stated that he would find 3 or 4 people that might be interested in serving on Planning Commission, one of which council could select to fill vacancy. 14. November meeting Motion by Arthur Theis, seconded by Donald DesLauriers to change November meeting to Wednesday November 6tI'•because of •conflict with election day. Motion carried unanimously Motion by Donald DesLauriel•s, seconded by Thomas Stevens to adjourn.
