COMMITTEE MEETING — Began at 12:15 p.m.
• CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL -
Committee members Claire Remsberg, Dave Peugh, Sue Dixon and Karla Eitel were
present. Also present was Delta James, Economic Development Planner.
MINUTES APPROVAL
September 15, 2017: Dave motioned, Claire seconded, and all members voted to
approve the minutes.
• . PUBLIC ART PROJECTS
Lardo Bridge: The Artwork Selection Committee reviewed eight applications from
artists from •Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana and Utah for this project and has
unanimously recommended Susan Madacsi of Boise. The committee members
included architect Heather Susemihl, Mark Wasdahl from ITD, Sue Dixon, Public Art
Advisory Committee member, Rotary Club member and musician Tom Harris and
Theresa Burkes, artist. Susan Madacsi was selected based upon the quality of her
previous works, experience with integrated public art projects, chosen medium
(fabricated steel), and thoughtful application.
Claire motioned, Karla second, to recommend to City Council that Susan Madacsi of
Boise be commissioned for the Lardo Bridge public art. project.
Railroad Ave Mural: Staff reported that the first mural panel installed on the Railroad
Avenue retaining wall in 2014 is becoming weathered.. Committee members agreed
that the mural panel should be replaced and directed .staff to work with Cynthia
Dittmer to see if her students want to paint a new mural panel. The committee also
expressed interest in participating in the mural design selection process, perhaps by
reviewing proposals from the students. -
• FUNDING
Idaho Commission on the Arts: This agency has de -funded its public art grant
program this year.
Private contributions: Staff will prepare a one -page Lardo Bridge project summary to
utilize for committee private fundraising efforts.
