This Section 5 reads to be an addition to the adoption of the updated versions of the Uniform Codes. In order to clarify our position, we object to changes in the McCall Code which are in any way modifications to the Uniform Fire Code. These changes and amendments in Section 5 of the above Ordinance No. 605 specifically address changes to the Automatic Fire Extinguishing Systems. We feel any changes and additional requirements imposed on owners, builders, and developers in Automatic Fire Extinguishing over and above the Uniform Building Code and the Uniform Fire Code are unnecessary and cost prohibitive, and could actually cause many hardships due to false alarms, maintenance, frozen pipes, power failures, or just tenant stupidity.
