Leesburg Personal Property Tax Payments Due On
Friday, May 13, 2016
Leesburg, VA (April 13, 2016) – The Town of Leesburg will mail vehicle personal property tax
bills for 2016 to Leesburg taxpayers on Thursday, April 14. Due to the late mailing, the due date
for paying vehicle personal property taxes has been extended to Friday, May 13, 2016. Business
tangible personal property tax bills will be mailed in mid-May with a due date of June 17, 2016.
Taxpayers can access and pay their personal property tax bills online via the Customer Self
Service Portal on the Town website at www.leesburgva.gov/customerportal. Additional
payment options are available at www.leesburgva.gov/pptax.
Personal property tax bills are based on the assessed value of vehicles parked, stored or
garaged in the Town as of January 1 of each year. Vehicles purchased or moved into the Town
after January 1 will not be billed for personal property taxes until the following year. However,
taxpayers must display a Town of Leesburg vehicle decal within 30 days of vehicle purchase or
move.
A late penalty of 10% and interest at the rate of 10% per annum will be added to any unpaid
balance after May 13, 2016.
