HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 650 - Electing a Mayor - NOT APPROVEDORDINANCE NO.650 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF McCALL, IDAHO, RELATING TO DIRECT ELECTION OF THE MAYOR; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DA lE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF McCALL, IDAHO, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The electorate of McCall having adopted the Council -Manager plan of government, and Idaho Code 50-809(2) having authorized the city to provide by ordinance for the direct election of the Mayor, the McCall City Code, Title 1, chapter 7, is amended to add the following new section: 1-7-3: DIRECT ELECTION: At the general election held November 2, 1993, and at each mayoral election thereafter, the Mayor shall be directly elected by the voters. The term of the first Mayor elected under this provision shall be years; thereafter the Mayor shall be elected for a term of four years. Section 2. Section 1-7-1 of the McCall City Code is amended to read as follows: 1-7-1: AUTHORITY, DUTIES AND POWERS: The authority, duties and powers of the Mayor are as defined specifically in -Title -Section 50- 810, Ghapter--6-, Idaho Code; Section 3. Sections 1 and 3 of this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law; section 2 of this Ordinance shall be effective upon the effective date : council-manager plan.
