HomeMy Public PortalAbout2017.12.20 PRAC MinutesParks & Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes 12/20/2017 6 :00pm Legion Hall -McCall , Idaho Committee Members Present : Irwin Mulnick, Brigid Lawrence, and Matt Linde (Forestt Stanley was not present) Staff Member Present: Kurt Wolf Welcome-Meeting was called to order at 6 :07 PM. Public Comment-Presentation by Jerry Wortley on the lditarod qualifier sled dog race to be held in Valley County during winter carnival. Event would like to host a ceremonial start on the lake adjacent to Legacy Park if ice is safe . If not the ceremony will be held at Ponderosa State Park . Kurt Wolf and parks staff will meet with Jerry on site after the holidays to discuss logistics . Agenda Review & Updates-Nothing was added to the agenda. Introduction of Guests: Jim Pace had to push his presentation on the boat house proposal to the January meeting . Kurt gave a brief overview of the proposal. Review minutes from previous meeting: Minutes were reviewed approved for both the October and November meetings. Business: 1. Conceptual Improvement Plans North of the Marina & IDPR Grant Proposal: The committee reviewed the grant proposal and conceptual drawings for dock improvements. All were in favor of the project and felt it would significantly help address the issues outlined in the application and scope of work. Committee agreed to draft a letter of support for the grant application and project. Brigid made motion, Irwin second, and all were in favor . 2. Boat House Concept Proposal: Kurt gave the committee a brief overview of the proposal. Committee thought it sounded like a great idea and looks forward to a presentation by Jim Pace in January . 3. Riverfront Park: Kurt gave the committee an updated on the IDPR Grant work taking place at Riverfront Park and recent opportunities that may trigger further improvements at and around the sheep bridge in 2018 . Committee will further discuss during the January meeting. 4. Snow Bike Race Concession. Committee discussed the snow bike race event during winter carnival which was moved from the golf course to Riverfront Park in 2017. Kurt informed the committee that staff did not have any issues last year and had no public comments following the event. Committee agreed it seems like a logical location . Irwin made motion in favor of the event remaining at Riverfront Park, Brigid second, and all were in favor . S. Brown Park Discussion: Push discussion to the January meeting . 6. Winter Program Overview: Push discussion to the January meeting. 7. Staffing Discussion: Push discussion to the January meeting. 8. Mile High Mile Discussion : Push discussion to the January meeting . 9. Member Status: No discussion 10. Scout Troop Projects and Events: No discussion at this time. Meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM .
