Mayor Ross announced the following appointments with the approval of the Council: Town Hall and Finance: Hippen and Eckhoff Water Department: Claassen and Huisman Streets and Alleys: Huisman and VanDeest Fire and Public Safety: VanDeest and Hippen Sewer and Sanitation: Eckhoff and Claassen Parks and Recreation: Claassen and VanDeest Mayor Pro Tem: Huisman On a motion by Claassen, seconded by VanDeest, T. J. Her- onimus was appointed as legal counsel for the town. Carried. Motion by Huisman, seconded by Claassen to adjourn. Carried. i Mayor Clerk The Wellsburg Town Council met in regular session on February 2, 1970, with Mayor Ross presiding and all council- men present. On a motion by Eckhoff and seconded by Huisman the min- utes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Motion carried. Following a motion by Huisman seconded -by Tan Deest, the following bills were allowed for payment: Herman DeVries, salary $425.00 Aeilt Terfehn, salary 425.00 Henry J. Grobe, salary 100.00 State Hygienic Lab., water analysis 8.00 B & H Skelly, gas, oil and supplies 178.79 Peterson Construction Co., street maintenance 18.00 Meint J. On a motion by Claassen and seconded by Tan Deest it was agreed to notify all residents of Wellsburg of their house numbers by mail. Carried. Lawrence Bausman, a member of the Grundy County Crime Commission, gave a report on the purpose of the organization and outlined its program and the funds available to the town. On a motion by Tan Deest and seconded by Claassen, the Mayor was instructed to sign the Crime Commission agreement. Motion carried. Community Club representatives, Leonard Gelder, Jakie Lindaman and Darrell Breneman, invited the town council to join the Community Club. No action was taken at this time. On a motion by Van Deest seconded by Eckhoff the Peoples Savings Bank of Wellsburg was made depository for the town funds not to exceed $100,000. Motion carried. A letter from Grundy County Auditor Wilbur Rust was read asking the council to consider contrikjuting funds to the North Central Detoxification & RehabilitationAat Iowa Falls. After consideration and discussion Claassen made a motion to table the request. Huisman seconded the motion. Carried. After a discussion of the balances of the clerk's and the treasurer's books, the town clerk asked for an audit of the books. On a motion by Hippen and seconded by Vran Deest it was moved to have an audit if the town attorney deemed it necessary. Motion carried. On a motion by Claassen and seconded by Eckhoff it was proposed to raise the salaries of the town marshalls to $450.00 per month retroactive to January 1, 1970. The motion was approved by a roll call of votes as follows: Ayes: Eckhoff, Huisman, Claassen Nays: Hippen Abstaining: Tan Deest On a motion by Huisman and seconded by Van Deest the meeting was adjourned.
