9th Annual Smart’s Mill 5K Race in Leesburg on Saturday, May
7, 2016
Portions of Catoctin Circle NE will be closed during the race for runners’ safety.
Leesburg, VA (May 2, 2016) – The 9th annual Smart’s Mill “Get Smart” 5K Race will be held on
Saturday, May 7, 2016 in Leesburg, beginning at 8:00am. The event is a flat course, certified by
USAT&F, that begins and ends at Smart’s Mill Middle School (850 North King Street.) There will
be a free ¼ mile Kids’ Run that begins after the start of the 5K and before the announcement of
awards. Finishers’ ribbons will be awarded to all participants. All proceeds from the Get Smart
5K benefit the Smart’s Mill Middle School PTA.
The top three overall male and female runners will receive awards. The top two finishers in the
following age groups also will be awarded prizes: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-
49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Drivers should expect delays due to the race. Beginning at 8:00a m, Catoctin Circle NE, from
Battlefield Drive to Marshall Drive, will be closed. The road will reopen as soon as all runners
have cleared the roadway, at approximately 9:00am.
